Job Description

The Specialist/Quality Improvement is responsible for partnering with Operations and Corporate Department work groups on quality improvement efforts including development and implementation of quality improvement initiatives.

POSITION DIMENSIONS

The incumbent is an individual contributor. This position must be able to influence individuals at all levels. This position may frequently interact with contractors and other utility management and quality management personnel. This position may work with contractors analyzing business practices and procedures to assist contractors with continuously improving their business practices to deliver a quality product to the Company. This includes recommending corrective action and preventive measures. This position reports to a Manager or above.

QUALIFICATIONS

There are clear precedents and practices that the incumbent uses as guidelines to determine how this job is performed. This position requires five years of relevant work experience in Quality or in an equivalent area. The incumbent must successfully attain an American Society for Quality (ASQ), Quality Improvement Associate certification or equivalent within two years of accepting position. The incumbent will be encouraged to continue their knowledge, skills and abilities by pursuing other quality certifications through ASQ or other industry organizations.

A Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in engineering or quality degree is preferred.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support projects by strategically incorporating continuous quality improvement methodologies in Operations, and informal Company projects and processes when applicable
  • Guide and/or assist Operations groups with using quality tools to evaluate and improve existing processes
  • Collaborate with groups outside of Operations on continuous quality improvement initiatives
  • Identify and develop plans for new continuous quality improvement activities
  • Seek input from Operations during continuous quality improvement process development
  • Support, develop and maintain applications for monitoring quality initiatives and associated metrics
  • Collaborate within Operations on continuous quality improvement projects, including peer-to-peer reviews, Operational Improvement Plan objectives, etc.
  • Collaborate with Operational Quality Assurance (OQA) on continuous quality improvement projects originating from internal quality reviews and supplier audits
  • Assist Operations groups in documenting processes and procedures
  • Prepare and maintain reports on improvement efforts
  • Develop quality improvement training materials to be used in teaching and promoting quality improvement practices
  • Prepare materials for communicating quality improvement initiatives and best practices
  • Act as the primary Quality Point of Contact (QPOC) to facilitate quality improvement activities
  • Assist with emergency response activities - be subject to "on-call" duty as needed
  • Perform related duties and responsibilities as assigned
  • Regular and predictable attendance is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job

SALARY DETAILS

$80,678 - $121,018
