Job Description

Overview:

HKS Phoenix is seeking a Project Manager to join our Mission Critical team.

Responsible for operational and financial management and oversight of a Practice, including promoting critical strategic initiatives, managing and monitoring financial performance, coordinating staffing and monitoring staff utilization, and assisting with the implementation of growth objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Participates in strategic, Objectives and Key Results (OKRs), and financial planning for the practice
  • Partners with Office Directors and studio leaders as a liaison between the practice leadership and staff, communicating firm and practice initiatives, strategic goals, and priorities
  • Actively encourages opportunities to incorporate HKS services, expertise and innovation in all projects, while actively seeking opportunities to incorporate HKS best practices, sustainable design solutions, subject matter expertise and resources strategically and efficiently for the client, users, and community
  • Monitors staffing, utilization, and growth management across the practice, including recommending adjustments where necessary and reviewing all personnel changes in conjunction with Global Practice Director, Regional Directors, Office Directors and Sector Manager
  • Assists practice and offices with project staffing requests; employs working knowledge of the staff utilization within the practice and general knowledge of the capabilities available in each office with active practice projects
  • Acts as a key liaison between practice-driven strategy and regional/office execution plans; assists studio to set goals and OKR's
  • Emphasizes HKS strategic priorities and supports the firm's principles of Design Excellence and Technical Excellence by helping project teams integrate those practices into projects
  • Operates with "ONE Firm" mindset by minimizing the practice and operational variables within the office and between offices
  • Partners with studio leaders and Office Directors to evaluate performance and growth in a manner which is consistent with HKS's priorities, core values, and purpose
  • Exercises skills of persuasion and negotiation on critical issues

Qualifications:

  • Professional degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Business, Finance or related field
  • Licensure or certification in chosen field preferred
  • Typically, 15+ years of experience in the AEC industry, including experience in a leadership role with demonstrated success in project work, project financial management, and talent/resource development
  • Expertise in the functionality of Vision preferred
  • Experience in MS Office Suite, including Microsoft Project, Expertise MS Excel, and Microsoft Teams preferred
  • Successful track record in directing and leading teams
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on collaboration and developing/nurturing talent
  • Strong leadership, organization, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Ability to problem solve and apply innovative solutions
  • Ability to collaborate and encourage collaboration in a team environment
  • Ability to effectively meet deadlines at expected quality
  • Travel will be required
