LOCATION: Camp Ponderosa - Heber, Arizona

STATUS: Exempt / On-site employee

HOUSING: The Salvation Army has determined this position has a business need for on-site housing, with the housing on Salvation Army owned property where the employee works.

The duties of the position warrant the position for onsite housing for the convenience of The Salvation Army, and the employee must accept this as a condition of employment.

The employee will be required to review and sign an on-site housing agreement furnished by The Salvation Army, prior to moving into The Salvation Army property.

All other parties residing with the employee on The Salvation Army owned property will be listed on the on-site housing agreement but will not sign the on-site housing agreement. The employee will not be charged any monthly rent for an on-site housing agreement.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • High School Diploma/GED required.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Relatable experience may substitute for education (2:1 ratio).
  • Experience in managing large groups and creating desirable camp programs.
  • Ability to sell individuals and groups on camp utilization.
  • Ability to ensure an occupancy rate of 75% of availability within three years.
  • Must possess high competency in social environments and working with customers.
  • Must be a self-starter capable of anticipating tasks and customer needs ahead of time.
  • Customer service skills pertaining to communication with guest groups.
  • Ability to provide oversight of dining hall operations including staff and volunteers.
  • Cooking experience for small and large groups
  • Must possess and maintain Food Handlers Certification
  • Able to demonstrate respect and sensitivity towards a diverse populations
  • Ability to maintain a professional and courteous demeanor at all times
  • Must pass a criminal background check
  • Must have a valid AZ driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights and weekends

RESPONSBILITIES

Sales (50%)

  • Develop new rental group leads in collaboration with the Camp Director.
  • Create and deliver presentations to small and large groups to secure rental groups throughout the year.
  • Modify and adapt presentation material to meet the needs of potential renters without compromising the mission.
  • Book rental groups and follow through with necessary approvals and paperwork.
  • Give tours, provide pricing & provide rental contracts with potential or confirmed groups.
  • Act as communication liaison with potential and confirmed rental groups.
  • Assist rental groups by anticipating and addressing rental group needs.
  • Coordinate camp's ability to accommodate a rise in rental groups without loss of quality, in services provided.
  • Invest in intentionally improving Ponderosa's camp experience for guests.
  • Ensure a positive camping/retreat and food service experience for rental and TSA in-house programs.
  • Developing and implementing sales/rental processes
  • Collaborating with other departments and upper management to identify business goals.
  • Recruiting, hiring, and training staff in support of contract fulfillment.
  • Identifying customers and sales opportunities by analyzing sales data and consumer trends
  • Implementing and managing tools to maximize opportunities and customer relationships.

Food Service (25%)

  • Develop unique and quality menus that enhance the camp experience.
  • Coordinate the ordering and delivery of necessary food items for rental groups.
  • Maintain proper sanitation of food handling & preparation in the kitchen and dining hall as required by Navajo County & State Health Departments
  • Ensure general organization and cleanliness of dining hall, kitchen, storerooms, program spaces and program equipment storage areas.
  • Supervise staff and volunteers for food prep and clean-up, ensuring safety standards.
  • Cook and/or coordinate the preparation of food for rental groups.

Summer Camp (15%)

  • Collaborate with the program team to develop and deliver quality programming.
  • Assist in ensuring the quality and punctuality of programs.
  • Oversee the functionality and health of seasonal food service workers.

General (10%)

  • Support the Camp Director in ensuring a high standard of safety in all areas of camp related to camp experience. This includes food safety, climbing wall/zipline operation and upkeep and the archery range.
  • Work with the director to craft a work schedule that ensures there is a staff presence on camp each day.
  • Other duties as assigned as related to the position of Sales, Rental & Experience Manager.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Must have the ability to operate telephone, a desktop or laptop computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
