LOCATION: Yuma, AZ

STATUS: FT 40hrs/wk (Flex schedule)

The Salvation Army in Yuma Arizona is looking to fill a Mobile Ministry Aide position. The successful candidate for this position will have experience working with homeless, at risk veterans and families and the ability to work effectively and communicate with a diverse group of people. This position is benefit eligible and comes with vacation, sick, health, vision, life insurance, and more.

The Mobile Ministry Aide will provide mobile outreach, emotional and spiritual care and support. The primary objective of this position is to walk alongside those experiencing homelessness providing moral support, creating a bridge between them and social/corps services, walking alongside them as they complete goals and action steps set up by case managers, and sharing the hope of Jesus. They will work with the Corps Officers to provide emotional and spiritual care; bring outreach and engagement opportunities to the unsheltered in Yuma County and utilize music and art in mobile outreach opportunities.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred.
  • Ability to motivate and be self-motivating in leading others to Jesus Christ.
  • Maintain Christian ethics & integrity at all times.
  • Ability to be professional and courteous in keeping with Christian standards of leadership.
  • Experience working with homeless, at-risk veterans, and families preferred.
  • Excellent knowledge of and ability to use current Microsoft software.
  • Ability to communicate and work effectively with a diverse group of people.
  • Demonstrated dependability, maturity, and initiative; must be able to maintain program/guest/agency confidentiality and treat everyone with dignity and respect.
  • Ability to work alone and as a part of a team.
  • Must be self-motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds and circumstances.
  • Must possess a valid Arizona driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to pass The Salvation Army Fleet Safety e-learning module.
  • Must be able to successfully complete a criminal background check.
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Qualified individuals must be able to perform the essential duties of the position with or without accommodation. The Salvation Army will attempt to satisfy requests as long as the accommodation needed is reasonable and no undue hardship would result.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, stand, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and reach with hands and arms on a continuous basis. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds. Must be able to tolerate being outdoors 70% of the time in very hot weather as well as traversing remote locations where the homeless camp and/or reside. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception and ability to focus. The employee must have the ability to operate a telephone, a computer, as well as the ability to access and produce information from a computer, and to understand written information.
