The Opportunity:

The UCF Student Success and Well-Being Department of Student Success and Strategic Initiatives is currently accepting applications for the role of Senior Academic Success Coach. This position combines both academic advising and academic coaching into a newly created and exciting position of Senior Academic Success Coach (ASC), with the Senior ASC responsible for maintaining a case load of students and applying coaching methodologies and case management approaches to support students throughout their academic journey. Located centrally within the Division of Student Success and Well-Being, the Senior ASC will be assigned to the College of Business and will be tasked to holistically coach their assigned students through both academic and non-academic matters, and to monitor the progress of their students throughout their time at UCF.

The Senior ASC will also work collaboratively with other ASCs, along with other student support and well-being offices across campus, to provide the best, comprehensive care to UCF students. The position will include training and development opportunities, and a supportive, fast-paced, exciting working environment dedicated to innovating student success and well-being.

Responsibilities:

  • The primary responsibilities of this position are to assist in developing and implementing college/department goals and strategies as a senior professional in academic advising, coaching, transition programming and orientation, enrollment, retention, persistence, progression, and graduation.

  • Provides advising and coaching services to support student retention, persistence, progression, and timely graduation.

  • Applies basic advising and coaching methodology to inquiries through various modalities.

  • Discusses and reinforces the value of coaching with prospective students and prepares the student for ongoing coaching relationships.

  • Responsible for providing students with basic level information related to University, College, and Program policies and procedures and general information related to community resources.

  • May serve as the primary contact for assigned cohort(s) and assist with schedule planning, registration, four-year plans, career and graduate school planning. Works with university and college offices to develop, monitor, and update degree plans, audits and academic records.

  • Maintains a case roster of students in the customer relationship management system(s); follows a detailed inquiry management and communication plan; tracks student engagements; assists with developing and presenting reports and data. Meets established unit benchmarks, customer service standards, key performance indicators, and daily productivity metrics.

  • Use tools, analytical dashboards, and technology fully to manage advising and student communication, Maintain accurate student records, and document student interactions in (myKnight STAR) or other systems.

  • Provide prerequisite checks and other records maintenance as required.

  • Assists students' connection with the college for registration permissions, course substitutions, course equivalency reviews, transient requests, and other records maintenance as required.

  • Assists with developing and coordinating recruiting, outreach, and engagement programming. This may include open houses, welcome expos, major fairs, community and state college events for prospective students, or workshops for current students.

  • Builds relationships with students to develop a required academic plan to meet timely graduation requirements.

  • Explains academic policies, procedures, and guidelines and helps students navigate the college and university-level administrative processes.

  • Achieve established metrics, which may include contact hours, appointments, and associated summary reports, assigned students continuing to the next term.

  • Analyze data, generate and disseminate retention, persistence, and progression information.

  • Participate in ongoing training and professional development programs.

  • Coordinate and oversee orientation programming for incoming College of Business students.

  • Serve as liaison for students with special populations such as ASSA, etc.

  • Create training information to aid the development of ASCs within the assigned College.

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience or a Master's degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience pursuant to Fla. Stat. 112.219. Click here for more information

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience in education, with a preference for experience in higher education.

  • Experience in coaching, with a preference for experience in student coaching.

  • Experience in and/or understanding of case management. * Experience in and/or understanding of customer service.

  • Experience with using a CRM to case manage/track student, client, or customer interactions.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (e.g., MS Word and Excel) and desktop agent software (e.g., MS TEAMS).

  • Ability to use independent judgment and decision-making skills when assisting students.

  • Ability to work well with others and as a team.

  • Ability to perform duties with a high degree of integrity, confidentiality, and adherence to professional ethical standards.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.

  • Excellent organizational skill, multi-tasking skills, and high level of attention to detail.

  • Flexibility to work in a fast-paced, highly innovative environment.

The Senior Academic Success Coach (ASC) role is a newly created exciting position that combines academic advising and academic coaching.

This is a full-time, 12-month position. Due to the nature of the work, this is not a fully remote position, and remote (hybrid) work of any kind may not be guaranteed or may be altered as needed.
