Summary

The Fire Intelligence Specialist participates in the coordination and dissemination of reported incidents through multitude media and communication centers to the Fire Mitigation (FM) organization, communicating in real time to the Fire Mitigation Supervisor and FM Duty Officer (DO). Serves as FM resource for data collection, compilation, reporting and analytics for wildfire incidents and activity. Coordinates with other department functions to share and interpret data specific to wildfire activity impacting the company and its operating areas. Provides wildfire data benchmarking, and conducts fact findings, utilizing a fundamental understanding of the FM business functions, systems and standards. Provides daily updates of GIS maps to present wildland fire data, and processes GPS data from field personnel.

Minimum Requirements

- BS/BA Degree and minimum four (4) years of progressively responsible experience where general knowledge and understanding of the business operations, systems, and processes and experience with database tools has been obtained.
-In lieu of bachelor's degree, equivalent combination of college coursework and/or related professional experience equaling nine (8) years is required.
-Experience collecting, analyzing, and displaying data associated with natural resources area of expertise.
-Basic knowledge of database design, structure, functions and processes and database tools.
-Ability and willingness to work extended hours well beyond normal operating periods during periods of heightened fire activity.

Preferred Special Skills, Knowledge or Qualifications:

- Knowledge of Incident Command System (ICS), National Fire Danger Rating System (NFDRS), National Interagency Incident Management System (NIMS) Ability to compile and deliver accurate data quickly in short time frames often under stressful conditions. Familiarity with various land management agencies, APS Service Territory, and the geographic boundaries of the State to accurately portray emergency incidents.

- Project/team experience and ability to prioritize work. Demonstrated analytical ability to review and analyze data, identify issues, see relationships and patterns and recommend solutions. Basic knowledge of emerging practices and technologies used within fire mitigation and forestry.

- Demonstrated communication skills, both verbal and written. Work with computer hardware and software systems including ArcGIS, MS Excel, MS Teams, Office 365 suite, Power BI.

Major Accountabilities

1. Manages multiple forms of communication and collect data tools to investigate emerging wildfire incidents that have a potential impact to the company and its operating areas.

2. Provide ongoing real-time fire status communication to fire mitigation team and other stakeholders to support planning and decision-making associated with APS operating procedures from various agencies during increased fire activity.

3. Collect historical data for the purpose of tracking and trending wildfire activities.

4. Prepare and present fire data and visual products for presentation and communication.

5. Maintains documentation of processes, guidelines, tools, and training aids required to support fire mitigation efforts.

6. Support compliance and oversight of the Comprehensive Fire Mitigation Plan (CFMP) and related documents.

This position requires employees to work at the (Location), with some flexibility. Flexibility will be determined with the hires employee and leadership, but the ultimate decision is the company's.
