The purpose of this position is to provide a variety of duties related to law enforcement and disposition of evidence. This is accomplished by performing complex and highly responsible duties in the receiving, inventorying, storing, and destroying evidence used in police investigations by the Police Department. Other duties may include completing related tasks as assigned.

The ideal candidate for this position will be able to:

  • Acquire and determine dispositions of cases, to determine the appropriate treatment of impounded property; destroy and/or dispose of evidence and property upon authorization of the courts or other authorized parties.
  • Conduct regular inventory of evidence and items in the warehouse and maintain a logbook and inventory listing.
  • Process invoices and logs in property received from law enforcement.
  • Research calls regarding property dispositions and provide customer service.
  • Perform various routine clerical duties to maintain the property and evidence.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent, plus additional course work (equivalent of up to 1 year at a Community College or equivalent, resulting in accumulations of similar knowledge or abilities).
  • Experience: 1 year of experience. Some previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions.
  • Physical: Requires heavy physical exertion and effort, lifting between 25-50 pounds.
  • Licenses/Certifications:
    • Valid Driver's License
    • Full Police Department background check, including polygraph.
    • Attainment of Arizona State Criminal Justice Information Systems Terminal Operator Certification within 6 months of hire. (Obtained through on the job training).
